Fabric and Furniture Worth Keeping

Whether it’s a family heirloom, new-to-you vintage or just a Room Refresh in the form of new pillows and cushions – if it’s furniture and fabric you’re passionate about and want expert fabrication and application, let Helen Miller/Miller Upholstering breathe new and long-lasting life into these pieces you love and the rooms they inhabit.

Helen’s garden-level studio is currently situated at the foot of 1905-built Lowry Hill Apartments around the corner from Antiques Bel Air, just up from the Walker Art Center and Sculpture Garden. The studio is both open workroom and fabric showroom for your projects. She’ll walk you through the variety of fabrics to suit your individual style as well as that of the frame needing new covering. She can help you design new groupings of pillows needed to give necessary punch, tone it all down or bring a sense of balance to settings both modern and traditional, commercial and residential. She will demystify the make-up of your padded furniture piece, explaining the layers of materials that go into each through the decades and your options for restoring those layers today and how they can be expected to perform. Consider Helen your personal co-designer, kindred spirit, and upholstery educator when it comes to custom making soft decor accents and her hands-on approach to the 600+ year old handcraft of upholstery.
